Welcome to the website of the Honorary Consulate of Hungary to the Carolinas.

The US and Hungary have a strong ongoing friendship, which dates back to the Cold War era. Hungary transformed from communism to democracy in 1989 and with the help of US direct investments built and introduced a free market economy. Bi-lateral relations with the US and leading countries around the world led to the NATO membership in 1999 and the EU membership in 2004. To further strenghten the countries' ties, Hungary joined the visa-waiver program in 2008, which was very much supported by the 1.5 million strong Hungarian-American community living in the United States.

Today, both countries are valued partners in the transatlantic relationship that share common goals, such as promoting democracy and stability in the world. Both nations are already bound together through contacts in business, military operations, the arts, academic scholarships, and many more exchanges.

The Honorary Consulate to the Carolinas was established with the purpose to continue to foster this valued relationship with special attention to the region. We are here to help Hungarian nationals in need, raise awareness about Hungary, connect businesses, promote  academic exchange, and help introduce the Hungarian culture to the Carolinas.

Warm regards,

Chris Domeny
