On March 21, 2016, several student organizations at the Charlotte School of Law hosted a panel on the Syrian Refugee Crisis with Honorary Consul Chris Domeny, Marsha Hirsch, Director of the Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency, and a Charlotte-based attorney for immigration law . The goal was to share with the student body and faculty the typical process that refugees encounter when applying for resettlement, what refugees and host countries countries are currently facing, and what legal issues surface.
