In recognition of the special occasion of Hungary's National Day on August 20th, the anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian state, morning mass in Hungarian was held at the Sacred Heart of Mary Chapel on the campus of Marymount University in Virginia. In attendance was former Hungarian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and special advisor to the Prime Minister, Mr. János Csák, as well members of the local Hungarian Scouting Association (Magyar Cserkészszövetség).

A morning breakfast followed in honor of Franciscan monk and founder of the St. Francis Foundation of Déva, Böjte Csaba, whose work over the past 20 years founding orphanages in Transylvania has provided housing and education to thousands of children across 67 locations. Böjte Csaba then led a 9-mile pilgrimage to the Basilica of the Immaculate Reception where he led a mass in honor of St. Stephen's Day and the first anniversary of the dedication of the Hungarian National Shrine.

Closing the day's festivities was the Embassy of Hungary, which held an evening reception that included staple Hungarian foods as well as traditional Hungarian dancing.
